About
My work begins with prayer. I am in awe of Our Creator and humbled to honor and exalt Him with the work of my hands, soul, heart, and intellect. This is where it begins. Everything begins with God. —Gisele Conn
Gisele Christian Conn is an accomplished contemporary Puerto Rican artist who blends multiple cultures, mixed media and faith to create fine art. Gisele graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Art, Spanish and Letters from The Metropolitan University of Denver (Denver, Colorado) and The University of Puerto Rico (San Juan, Puerto Rico). Additional coursework and studies in fine arts, art history and culture were completed in Cuernavaca, Mexico (ASLI, Spanish Language Institute), San Juan, Puerto Rico (Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Diseño) and in Barcelona, Spain (Oxbridge Program/University of Barcelona). Conn then completed a Master of Arts in Education at Colorado Christian University (Lakewood, Colorado).
This eclectic, bilingual and multi-cultural blend of education and life experiences contains one more layer, which may be the most influential in Conn’s body of work - her faith in God and His Sacred Word, the Holy Spirit and Jesus. Ethereal forms and complex layers are repeated in her work to create atmospheric, contemplative abstract compositions that examine the spiritual part of our existence and connects us to an unseen, yet always present realm of God.
The Process
Gisele Christian Conn begins the process of creating each painting with prayer. Prayers of gratitude to God rise up in her studio as an acknowledgement of the gift of time, sacred space, and peace of mind to create a physical manifestation of His blessings. She creates a detailed plan before a drop of paint is applied to the canvas. The design, composition, materials and colors are deliberate and reflect Conn’s artistic skills and respect for excellence in technique. The process of mixing paint and preparing all materials that are used is slow and intentional in purpose. This is also a sacred time of prayer and contemplation. The completion of each painting is a unique expression of Prayer, Worship and Art.

Three Cords Are Stronger Than One
This painting was created as a wedding blessing. It is based on the Bible passage from Ecclesiastes 4 to represent the bond to a third source - God in every marriage. The colors were carefully chosen to represent strength (Bronze), The Holy Spirit (White), and God’s presence and healing (Blue). The composition was designed to create movement in the form of an abstract braid woven with varied textures and intertwined with metallics to represent longevity, beauty and union.
