New Worship Paintings
…and the stories behind them.
It all begins with prayer. My creative process is a sacred practice that would not exist without prayer, contemplation and worship. Meaning is integrated into every color, form, and design element in each painting. However, there is still mystery and space for the element of the unknown when one paints and worships at the same time. The Holy Spirit is my constant companion and sometimes He speaks louder than I can paint.

Jesus Said
This painting was created to honor and parallel the words of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In the books of Matthew (19:13-14) and Luke (5:1-11) Jesus speaks commands that are powerful, yet comforting and full of compassion. The powerful combination of gentle directives is expressed through color. Deep viridian green and crystalline blue place us at the water’s edge where worship and healing take place at His feet. The expanse of white symbolizes The Holy Spirit - our ever-present comforter. White on white texture is used to guide the viewer to observe closely to see the unseen - a simple net floating on the edges of His words - Now go…Don’t be afraid…Let the children…All direct and clear instructions. The dichotomy of His words, both gentle and powerful, are represented with yellow (the joy of the Lord) and brilliant gold (the Word of God). All honor and glory be to Him.

The subject of angels and their relationship with God is mystical and elusive to most; yet in the rich descriptions contained in the pages of the book of Revelation we discover that angels are described as worshippers, warriors, and messengers. They are spiritual beings created by God, made to worship and exalt Him in gratitude, and not worshipped as we worship God. This painting is my interpretation of angels worshipping God in Revelation 4:8-11. Alabanza de los Angeles is the Worship of the Angels.

8 Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying:
“‘Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord God Almighty,
who was, and is, and is to come.”
9 Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever.
They lay their crowns before the throne and say:
11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being.”

In the book of Psalms 19:1- 4 we learn that the heavens contain a universal language, it is the language of the skies created by our God. Our Heavenly Father. I was deeply moved by the beauty of a voice that uses no words, yet reaches the entire earth. As I listen to the Psalm, my imagination creates color, movement and shapes. I am in awe of God’s gift to us all, one that I marvel at when I look up at skies and listen for God’s voice. I hear His voice in colors; colors that reflect the golden light of the heavens. The healing blues of nightfall. A white that is always pure and sanctified air - the gift of breath from God. The shades of gray and lavender are expressions of an ethereal atmosphere that comfort us with ever-changing life.
1 The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
3 They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
4 Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent
for the sun.
